I'll place the sky within your eyes...

Stelon was somewhat surprised when Tic's beautiful violet eyes met hers, but she was almost saddened at the same time. While she saw them for mere moments, she saw much in them. Those were the eyes of one who had seen far too much for their age; they were old. And why shouldn't they be? They had seen so much...Suffering. Injustice. Death. All of these he had seen too much of.

She felt her own eyes begin to water slightly as she watched a few tears slide down the boy's cheeks. She could tell he was about her age, and she wondered what it was that could cause him such grief, such pain. She yearned for a way to make him smile, to make him happy, yet she knew there was no way she could help him at the moment as Larkin glanced back at her.

She shook herself and shifted her gaze from Tic's eyes only to find herself staring into that of the Shrike's. She met his eyes and her fear coursed through her again. It was only when he smiled at her that she calmed slightly. So he was not angry...she was not in trouble, and everything would be okay. Stelon gave him a weak smile and glanced back at Tic as Larkin resumed his talk with Aurora. She gave Tic a reassuring smile, hoping to maybe manage to make him feel at least a little better.

After a few more minutes, she found Larkin looking upon her again and she smiled back at him as he reached out his arm to her. Pausing for only a few moments, she walked over to him and leaned in close to his side, still smiling and thanking the moons that her dress hid her shoes, which she had completely forgotten until then that they would definitely give her away if he saw them.
