Wanna be somebodies.

Violet eyes flashed up for a moment, lips pursed gently. Larkin's last few words hung fluidly, accented by Tic's silence. His mind began to wonder, head lowered with short and sullen thoughts. Maybe Larkin had known he was feigning, and would treat him just as any other prisoner; merciless and cruel. But perhaps Larkin didn't mind, maybe even wanted it -- Tic couldn't tell. His hopes weren't very high, and he wondered whether or not he should continue this affectation.

But maybe he was just being a fool; so confident in its reasoning. He'd told himself fear drove his actions, but he wasn't so sure anymore. He yearned for another reason. He didn't want to be doing this for himself; out of the selfish fear for his own good and well-being. But, still, he didn't really have a choice. He couldn't fight, couldn't resist, couldn't simply steal the map he watched being carefully put away. He was too meek, he assured himself. He wished he wasn't, but he couldn't fight his fears.

And what about Miraye, the girl he somehow felt inclined to protect? He'd only met her a few days ago. He could have easily forgotten about her; shoved her away like the many memories ignored. Yet, thinking of her made him wonder -- she almost gave him a sense of confidence, assurance; an admiration for the bravery she had -- and the bravery he lacked. And there was something between them, something he couldn't understand. It comforted him, whatever it was, and he didn't want to let go of it. No, he didn't want anything to happen to this girl.

Maybe if he continued, Larkin would be easy on her; a reward for his submission and obedience. It was a strange idea, but it had more reason. It slowly began to convince him, assuring him it was alright. Yes, he would keep pretending; if not for his own sake, but at least for Miraye.

He remained somber and silent in his assurance, head hung slightly low. He didn't speak, only waited. Waited for the ruler to move or speak again, and instruct him with more orders.
