She smiled at him as they continued dancing through the ballroom, still quite happy and relaxed now that he wasn't going to accuse her of lying again. At least for the time being. She soon found herself gazing up into Larkin's beautiful, unique eyes as he opened his mouth to speak.
"Would you like an invitation?"
Stelon smiled a bit more brightly, looking somewhat surprised and happy about this at the same time. She had nowhere else to go that night, except out into mother nature again once they had---she heaved a mental sigh. She had nearly forgotten. She was supposed to be helping to rescue Tic tonight...with Miraye, Farrago, Matthias, and Imera, wherever she was. She glanced through the crowd over Larkin's shoulder, trying to find her comrades.
Failing to do so, she looked back at Larkin and smiled again, replying softly, "If only it would not cause you inconvenience, m'lord..."
Stelon justified her words in her head quickly, telling herself it was not her fault that Miraye and the others were nowhere to be found. As things were, she could tell them she was trying to find an excuse to get nearer to Tic. She continued to tell herself it was for the better if she was able to stay, that it would help their plan fall into place. Yet she knew that wasn't everything behind her decision. Slowly and gradually she was beginning to fall for Larkin's charm. But she was not going to admit that to herself yet.
