Looking for the truth.

Larkin glanced over his shoulder as well, making it obvious that he was extremely curious about who she was searching for. There was someone out there who would be disapproving of him dancing with her, and even more so of asking her to stay. In a way, Larkin felt as if he was endangering Stelon, but then again, like he was keeping her out of harm’s way by letting her stay the night with him.

He just didn’t know she was an associate of Miraye, who was in the room at that very moment, staring down on him from above, planning her attack and rescue. A rescue that would absolutely ruin everything once he made his announcement, and he was clueless to the upcoming events.

Satisfied with her answer, Larkin smiled and said, “It will do no such thing, but you have to allow me your company after the festivities.”

The festivities would end extremely late or, actually, quite early in the morning. But that was only what Larkin and everyone else was expecting. The events about to take place were more than likely going to end them for the rest of the night.

For now, he wanted to know a little more about this girl and just what she was doing at the party. Maybe she did come alone, and maybe she hadn’t meant it exactly that way. She might have been saying that she came separately from her family and friends. But that would not explain why she smelled and looked so natural.

He indeed liked her scent, and found himself leaning in closer to her, “Who’s out there, Stelon?”
