Reality check.

Stelon gasped as Miraye leaped down from the window and announced herself. In her enjoyment of Larkin's company she kept forgetting what she was really here for---to save Tic. Her eyes flashed a brilliant blue-green colour as the scene unfolded before her.

She covered her mouth with one hand as all of the guests at the ball began screaming, yelling in terror of who Miraye was, what she could do to them. Stel cringed and refused to turn her eyes from Miraye, Larkin, and Tic. She felt her stomach churn as her pink haired comrade's accusations rang out in the air, and the people nodded their agreement, confirming the cruelty of Larkin.

Her mind began to race with all it was taking in, trying to deny what everyone else knew to be so true. The shrike couldn't have done all of those horrible things...he couldn't have...he was so kind to her, and respectful. She tried to shut it all out, but what she had already heard and seen kept repeating itself over and over and over in her head.

Stelon closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them again to gaze upon all that was happening.

"I'm sorry...you can't have Tic yet. I'm far from finished with him."

She forced all of the gasps and whispers around her from her mind, not letting her mind register what he meant by that and clenched her fists, trying to remain calm. She focused more on Tic and saw him begin trying to work his way free...she hoped he'd succeed. No matter what had happened between her and Larkin and what she felt, she knew she had to make herself realize she wasn't here for the Shrike. She was here for Tic.

Stelon took another deep breath and tried to prepare herself for whatever might happen next.
