Zoom.

Matthias's heavy boots WHAMed off the ground with every step he took. He was now breathing heavily, doing his best to avoid all the servants, guards, and maids in the unending hallways. The complexity of the castle was a mixed blessing - though it allowed many places to hide, it also made it very easy for someone unfamiliar with the design (or world, for that matter) to get lost.
Sweat was running down Matthias's face as he took another corner, feet pounding off the polished linoleum floors. He looked around a bit, stopped running, and bent over, grabbing his kneecaps and panting heavily.
Tik tik tik tik tik tik...
The sound echoed in the long hallways. Matthias straightened up, casting his gaze around. Either a bomb or footsteps. He didn't wanna be around to find out.
He looked around, panic-stricken, then spotted a wooden door. A closet! Praise the Gods! He leapt into the closet, closing the door gently behind him.
Tik tik tik tik tik tik tik...
He crouched and peered through the door's keyhole. A figure dressed in white and orange leather, hair braided into a sort of crown, walked past.
"That one's a bit well-dressed to be a maid," he murmured to himself, waiting until the 'tik'ing was out of earshot. Quietly, he opened the door. Someone clamped onto his shoulder.
He jumped a foot and a half, then spun around - empty eye sockets stared back at him. The stench of rotting flesh hit him for the first time, as he stared at the greenish being, its lips having rotted off, grinning diabolically toward him.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"
Matthias stumbled backward, pausing his scream for a second to swallow the vomit headed up his esophagus. The person who'd passed earlier turned around and yelled, in a deep voice, "Who the Hell are you?"
Matthias froze, looked toward the corpse which had been in the closet with him, then looked toward Larkin, released another loud scream, and took off down the hall, heading, unbeknownst to him, toward the Throne room.
